Exhibition opportunities
As a club, we exhibit regularly at Kilmore Quay Seafood Festival (July), Culture Night (September) and Wexford Fringe Festival (October).
We can also help you organise your solo exhibition in Wexford Art Centre's D'Lush Café. These usually run for 6-week and are a good opportunity to make a name for yourself.
Ability to take part in competitions organised by Irish Photographic Federation (IPF)
As a member of IPF-affiliated club, you will have access to all competitions and other events organised by the IPF.
Additionally, if your images are chosen for our regular regional or national competitions, we will arrange and cover the cost of printing and mounting.
Why become a member?
Membership of Wexford Camera Club, apart from access to our meetings, presentations, workshops and feedback on your images by qualified photographers, involves other benefits such us:
Support when preparing for IPF distinctions
Our advance members, many holding IPF accreditations themselves, are willing to provide feedback, guidance and help when you decide to take up the challenge of applying for IPF distinction.
Excellent way to improve your photography
We offer you the opportunity to learn from experienced photographers, receive constructive advice on your work and challenge yourself in a supportive environment, regardless of your skill level.
You will explore various photography styles and genres and experiment with different techniques by taking part in our workshops, field trips and challenges, all aimed at improving your photographic eye.
Membership FAQs
How much does the membership cost?
The current annual club membership fee is €80.00 which is determined at the club Annual General Meeting held in March.
Our club year runs from the 1st of March to the 28/29th of February, but you are welcome to join at any time.
If you join mid-year, the fee is pro-rated.
Who can become a member?
Really there is only one requirement: you must be over 18 to join.
Apart from that, you are welcome whether you are an experienced photographer or just starting out, even with only your smartphone camera.
How often are the Club meetings?
We meet every two weeks, on Mondays at 7.30 pm at the St Joseph's Community Centre, Wexford. During the year we have Easter, Summer and Christmas breaks.
I am not sure if this is for me. Can I come to a meeting without joining first?
Yes of course! You are welcome to come to one or two meetings to see if you would like to join.
Should I own a specific type of camera?
Actually, you do not need a camera to join! But we do recommend you try to get one to participate in club competitions and other events! At the start it does not need to be anything fancy, it can even be a camera on your phone. We will help you to decide if you want to upgrade.
What photography experience should I have to join the club?
You are welcome whatever your level and we have members who are novices, intermediate and advanced. We have talks, demonstrations and workshops to enable all members to improve their skills.
